Why We Strip by Hand
We don’t believe in simply putting furniture into a dip tank and accepting the result.
Different paints, primers and previous finishes can react differently to chemical stripping. This can leave some areas completely stripped while other areas retain patches of paint or old finish.
We combine professional stripping methods with careful hand stripping and inspection, allowing us to work into mouldings, edges, joints and detailed areas that may otherwise be missed.
The result is a cleaner, more consistent surface and a better foundation for the next stage of restoration or refinishing.
The Right Method for Every Piece
Every item we work on is assessed individually before stripping begins. We consider the type and condition of the timber, the existing paint or finish, previous coatings and repairs, and the final result you want to achieve. We then select the most suitable combination of chemical stripping, sand blasting, planing and hand sanding to achieve the best possible result while preserving the character and detail of the furniture.
